Here are a few of our top recommendations this season.
Crowley Chardonnay Four Winds
From dry-farmed grapes with wet stone, herb and flinty notes followed by lemon/lime and pear. The mouth is angular and rich with subtle oak notes seasoning the whole. Clean, rich and long.
Crowley Wines was founded in 2005 with a focus on transparent, terroir-driven winemaking. Crowley works with family-owned vineyards at cool, high elevation sites that are committed to non-irrigated and low-impact farming. As members of the Deep Roots Coalition, Crowley’s primary vineyard sources are LIVE certified or certified organic.
Brick House Gamay Noir
A biodynamic wine grown on Ribbon Ridge, this is an aromatic, elegant wine with exceptional finesse — a bowl of strawberries and raspberries lightly dusted with cocoa powder. The finish is taut and tangy.
Located in Newberg, Oregon, Brick House Wines is a certified organic, biodynamic vineyard, established in 1990.
The Eyrie Pinot Gris Estate
Made from estate-grown fruit by the winery that first planted Pinot Gris in the U.S., this is aromatic with lime, hints of spring greens, white strawberry, and spice followed by a round palate that shows passionfruit, lychee, kiwi and currants.
The Eyrie Vineyards is comprised of five vineyards, all situated on south-facing slopes in the Dundee Hills, with plantings at varying altitudes. Founders David and Diana Lett are credited with establishing modern-era winegrowing in the Willamette Valley.
Abacela Tempranillo Barrel Select
From an Oregon pioneer of Tempranillo, this is fresh and fruity with a chewy, grainy texture, upfront blackberry fruit and streaks of espresso and dark chocolate.
Abacela is a world-class, multi-award-winning winery and viticulture success story, established in 1995 by founders Earl and Hilda Jones. Their Umpqua Valley wines are produced in Roseburg, Oregon.
