Beer Beef Roast
Cooked slowly in a beer and chili sauce, our Beer Beef Roast turns out well-browned and flavorful.
1, 2 1/2-3 lb cross rib roast
1 yellow onion, sliced & separated into rings
3/4 c beer, allowed to go flat *
1/2 c bottled chili sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 T all-purpose flour *
1/2 c water
salt & pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350°. Place meat in roasting pan. Season with salt and pepper. Arrange onion rings on top of roast. Stir beer, chili sauce and garlic together in small bowl. Pour over meat.
Cover and roast until well-browned and tender (about 2 hrs). Baste with pan sauce several times during cooking.
Stir flour and water together to thicken sauce. Uncover roast and stir flour mixture into sauce. Bake 5-10 min longer. Serve immediately.
* To make this recipe gluten-free friendly, use gluten-free beer and flour.
