Oregon grocer brings abundant choices and unique shopping experience to Bend
Market of Choice welcomes shoppers June 16
BEND, Ore. — Eugene-based Market of Choice will open its 42,000-square-foot store at NW Colorado off the Parkway on June 16, offering a unique grocery store experience.
Family-owned and operated in Oregon for over 35 years, Market of Choice carries an extensive selection of the finest natural, organic, conventional and local products at affordable prices, while providing customers a relaxing and enjoyable shopping experience.
“We’re eager to open our doors and welcome customers,” said Market of Choice President Rick Wright. “Bend is a great community, and we’re looking forward to becoming part of it.”
Similar to its flagship store in Eugene, the new Bend market features an expansive produce selection, scratch-made baked goods, specialty cheeses, a beer and wine shop, whole health and bulk items, a full-service meat and seafood department, and a gourmet deli and kitchen offering take-away meals created by in-house chefs. The Bend store also has a growler station and wine bar, as well as a juice bar.
Store Manager Casey Capell has worked for Market of Choice for more than 10 years and hails from Bend. “I’ve had the privilege of opening several stores during my time at Market of Choice, but being able to open and manage this store is extra special to me, having grown up here.”
Providing jobs
While growing their business over the years, the Wrights have provided mostly full-time jobs for thousands of people who receive higher-than-industry-average wages and benefits. With the opening of the Bend store, approximately 130 new jobs have been created.
Giving back
Because Market of Choice believes in social responsibility, it places great importance on giving back to the community. This includes:
SCAN program
Market of Choice is continuing its long tradition of supporting food banks with its year-round Scan Program in Bend, which makes it easy for customers to contribute to the fight against hunger when they shop for groceries. Customers can add a $1, $5 or $10 coupon to their purchase at checkout. That amount is then donated to NeighborImpact Food Bank, helping reduce hunger for children and families in Deschutes County. In addition, Market of Choice will donate thousands of pounds of food per year; items that are getting close to their expiration date or prepared food that would otherwise go to waste.
Art Bags
Market of Choice’s collaboration with local artists is an opportunity for customers to support local arts programs. For each reusable bag sold, $1.50 will be donated to Arts Central’s education outreach programs.
