As an active participant in our regional food system, we strive to lead the way in the grocery industry with our Mojo and Amplify programs. Through these programs and by partnering with other like-minded organizations, we’re Working with Purpose to elevate Oregon entrepreneurs and strengthen our food and beverage communities.

We hold a special place in our hearts for local food and beverage maker start-ups. We give guidance, development support, targeted funding, distribution solutions and amplification at the store-level and through social media. By carrying these local products, we’re contributing to the health and vitality of our local food system. As a Market of Choice customer, you get to explore a wide range of exciting new products and flavors while supporting Oregon entrepreneurs.

For many years, we have supported local food and beverage makers in Oregon by helping them get to market and by telling their stories. We take that local commitment a step further as part of our promise to lift up and celebrate our BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and WOMXN maker communities through our Amplify Program. To spotlight these self-identified makers, we’ve created colorful icons and shelf tags for their products throughout our stores, so that customers can make a conscious effort to support these businesses when they shop with us.

Amplify Program

Built Oregon is a passionate group of community and industry leaders, entrepreneurs, storytellers, investors and mentors who support the growth of Oregon’s consumer product industries to create sustainable, inclusive and innovative job growth. We are a supporting partner with BUILT Oregon and its grant program, which assists local BIPOC food and beverage makers through mentorship and grants that are tied to the Built Oregon Mentor Network and Accelerator Program, providing long-term business knowledge and support. Our merchandising and product teams love to help these local food and beverage makers reach their full potential.

XXcelerate offers a uniquely powerful combination of business education, peer support and a pathway to financing. It also provides an inclusionary space for womxn entrepreneurs to transform boardrooms, executive suites, investor meetings and banks to be diverse and equitable. We are honored and excited to join forces with this organization to elevate Oregon makers.

An annual event of Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, Oregon Angel Food provides an opportunity for local food and beverage startups to learn through a series of workshops. Some progress to pitch sessions and present their plans to investors. One receives a monetary angel investment. All receive support, technical assistance and introductions. Because we believe in these makers, we’ve made a one-year commitment to stock their products in our stores, as soon as they are shelf-ready.

Market of Choice is a proud sponsor of the podcast The Meaningful Marketplace, a journey of food and entrepreneurship. This weekly series shines a spotlight on local food and beverage makers, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC and WOMXN makers. Their inspirational stories are a great way to get to know the people behind the products found at your Market. Join us each week as we listen in, and be sure to catch up on any you may have missed.
