Business owner Olajumoke Elkanah has an impressive African cooking heritage, passed down through three generations of family cooks, and she’s more than excited to share her powerful flavors with food lovers in Oregon.

“I saw a need for African food in Oregon, so I decided to do something about it,” Olajumoke says. “I started with catering African foods for small gatherings and parties, and before you know it, I catered for weddings and large events.”

Her business, Flourish Spices & African Food in Salem, produces packaged African foods with the goal of making African food more accessible for everyone to enjoy.

From Jollof Rice Mix to Akara Pancake Mix, Olajumoke’s products need only water and oil to create truly traditional African dishes. Fry some plantains or a protein and dinner is complete!

Olajumoke’s mixes are vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO. Her family helps her with packaging, too, creating an assembly line in the kitchen with each person assigned a task.

Find Jollof Rice and Akara Pancake mixes in the grocery aisles at your Market of Choice.

“I appreciate how Market of Choice promotes diverse and local businesses,” Olajumoke says. “So many cultures and organizations are represented.”
