Grüner Veltliner is best known for its use in Austrian wine, but seems to have found a new home in the Northwest. A cool climate varietal it can be a refreshing, delicious food wine as well as age very well. Grown at high elevation, the 2021 Franchere Acadia from the Columbia Gorge is a great example with notes of juicy tangerine, green herbs, apricot and a hint of cinnamon.

I’ve had the great pleasure of traveling around Oregon and beyond to find the most unique wines, beers, coffees, zero proof beverages, ciders and meads. This work – meeting the people who make the drinks that line our shelves – means the world to me, and I’m more than happy to share these great finds. Check back often for more suggestions!
