Matt Molletta and his wife, Kate, had been working in the beer industry for years when they decided to take a leap of faith and establish a brewery of their own. In 2019, their vision to create a brewery that is smaller and more nimble in what it can do resulted in — what is now — one of the most popular breweries in Bend: Boss Rambler Beer Club.

Boss Rambler is a combination of Matt’s passion for good beer as well as endless adventure. He offers unique beers such as cocktail-inspired lagers, tropical hazy IPAs, and a domestic light beer (with their own unique take), among others. Matt loves to take risks, push the boundaries and make beer exciting for customers. He recalls using live Maine lobsters, maple syrup and fir to make a stout that represented all that is delicious about Maine. The results didn’t go over very well, but it was a great experiment!

“We have fun with our beers, and make some really off the wall things,” Matt says.

In addition to their canned beers, available at Market of Choice, Boss Rambler also has a Beer Club located in Bend’s popular Westside neighborhood that offers a lot more than beer and a good time. They’re open for coffee every morning and breakfast burritos Wednesday through Sunday. From beer to tap room, the number one goal for Boss Rambler is to provide “good times and cold beers.”

“We just want people to have a place to let loose and make memories,” Matt says.

Boss Rambler enjoys working with other local companies and supporting them as they grow.
