Just south and east of the Grand Cru slope in Chablis, the 1er Cru Mont de Milieu produces wines that approach the intensity and quality of the Grand Crus. Corinne and Jean-Pierre Grossot 2007 Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu shows green/gold in the glass. Perfume has expressive, ripe green apple and lemongrass notes. In the mouth it exhibits green apple, lemon pie, and subtle tropical fruit. Underneath it has firm baked clay and mineral and finishes rich but nicely tart. Mortet 2009 Bourgogne Aligoté: Loaded! Limpid yellow with greenish streaks. Mineral, citrus, melon and brioche in the complex perfume. Castelmaure Col des Vents Corbières Rouge 2009: Classic Corbières. Dark intense ruby red. Brambly, berry patch with peppery overtones and clayey undertones. Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah. $10.99/750ml.
