Flowers and roses in full bloom

Hooray! The 2009 rosés are starting to arrive! A local favorite, Elk Cove Pinot Noir Rosé, has nice cherry/raspberry fruit flavors with racy acidity and a crisp, dry finish.

The A to Z rosé leans more toward strawberry flavors, and is a little fuller in mouth feel, but is still nice and dry. From the south of France we have Jean-Luc Colombo Cape Bleue Rosé. Made from Syrah, Mouvedre and Counoise grapes, this wine is delicate and complex. Great for sipping on the deck, or with fish and poultry.

Also from the south of France Domaine Sorin always does a stellar job. Well balanced, fresh and easy to enjoy.

Coming later this week: two more from southern France (they really do make great Rosés there) Domaine de la Fouquett and Saint Roch les Vignes.

Hopefully, the weather will co-operate and we’ll see no more 30 degree mornings and many more flowers in coming weeks.

Enjoy!
