Wine at Corvallis

A passion for food and a nose for wine and beer make Corvallis Wine and Beer Steward Marni Furse a natural when it comes to pairing – a common dilemma among those who love food and drink but don’t necessarily know how make a perfect match.

Produttori Colterenzio Lagrein Rosé 2011 This Rosé is one of my favorites so far this season. Bright raspberry on the front with an underlying minerality and finishes strong with cherries in great length. This rosé is in short supply and will probably go quickly, so don't hesitate! 14.99/750 ml

Troon Vermentino 2011 Granny Smith apples, with a hint of pears, slight minerality and good acidity and length on the finish. 13.99/750 ml

Patton Valley Rosé is back! This has been one of my favorite rosés for several years. It does not disappoint. This rosé starts out with strawberry and raspberry notes followed by fresh peaches with a slight effervescence on the finish. Great acidity and grip on the finish making it perfect for those in-between spring days. 15.99/750 ml

The store was buzzing with Chef Francisco Alonso Martin-Hinojal and Chef Pablo Gomez de Diego from La Garrocha Restaurant in Valladolid, Spain on Saturday so I'm sorry if you missed it. The event was extremely successful and I hope all of you that wanted to come were able to make it. Henar Lopez Olmos was pouring wine with Andie and Henar said all of you were extremely kind and welcoming. She was pleased to see everyone so extremely interested in the wines, she felt very welcome at Market of Choice. So thank you to all of you.

Die Hockland Imker Sparkling Dry Honey Wine is brewed in Falkensteiner region of Austria in the traditional champagne method. This Mead is dry with weight on the mid-palate, notes of hay and sprouted grains followed by floral notes of honeysuckle and violets on the finish. This mead would pair well with honey mustard-glazed salmon, or a stuffed pork chop. Available for 15.99/750 ml

Patton Valley Pinot Noir Rosé – This rosé has been one of my picks the last couple of years; this year is no exception. Light effervescence brings in notes of honeysuckle on the nose, rainier cherries on the mid-palate and finishes with subtle raspberries and blueberries. A great summer picnic wine, it goes well with a variety of foods. Great with salads, chicken and seafood, also would pair well with grilled meats straight off the barbecue. Available for 15.99/750 ml

Chateau de Gaudou 80% Malbec, 15% Merlot & 5% Tennant Chateau de Gaudou is located in south western France, equal distance between the Atlantic, the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Ocean in the Cahors AOC, with 33-year-old vines being the average age. The nose brings blackberries and black currants, with grip on the mid-palate from the Tennant grapes. The finish is lengthy with flavors of prunes and plums with dark cranberry undertones. This is a great barbecue wine. Available for 8.99/750 ml
