Chromotherapy and flowers

Have you ever heard of chromotherapy? In several ancient cultures, chromotherapy was the practice of using colors to heal. Even if this practice isn’t used broadly in a scientific sense, it is used in some modern settings, and it’s undeniable that color has an effect on us. We all have preferences on which colors we choose for our surroundings.

I remember writing a paper on this topic in a college psychology course, and have remained interested in it since. It’s fascinating to watch customers in regard to their patterns of buying flowers of a certain color. Often, for instance, I find customers buy flowers that match the clothes they’re wearing, and don’t notice it until I make a comment about it. We seem to crave a color fix to balance out our emotions at times.

The warm colors of autumn flowers are such a treat to work with, and it’s such a well-made plan that warm colors emerge in flowers just as the weather gets colder and fall’s dull routines set in. In chromotherapy, red is used as a circulation stimulant, yellow for nerve stimulation and purification, and orange for increasing energy levels. Don’t those sound just right for the shorter, colder days of fall as the holidays approach?

So go ahead and practice a little amateur chromotherapy: stop by your Market Floral for an infusion of energy and stimulation by taking home a fresh autumn flower bouquet or blooming plant! We’ve got flowers to cure what ails you!
