As third-generation cheesemakers, brothers Dwayne and Darryl Heap carry on a family tradition that began in 1921, when their grandfather, Clarence Joseph Heap, went to work under the tutelage of Paul Brog, a Swiss immigrant, then famous for his award-winning Swiss Emmentaler.

After their grandfather retired and sold his cheesemaking business, Glacier Mountain Cheese, Co. in 1954, Dwayne and Darryl decided in 2006 to start their own business. Today, the Heaps own and operate Vintage Cheese Co. of Bozeman, Montana.

Lovingly tended by masterful hands, Mountina is a raw-milk, washed-rind cheese that has a sweet, nutty flavor with a hint of raclett and the body of Emmentaler. Created with a thin wax coat that breathes, it tastes the same as when it leaves the creamery – the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.

Available exclusively at your Market Cheese Shop for a limited time, beginning July 16, this amazing cheese is wonderful on its own and in recipes that call for Swiss. Don’t miss out – stop in and ask for a taste! SAVE $3 lb

Thanks to all who turned out for “Meet the Makers - A Celebration of Oregon!” held at our West Linn Market June 19. We welcomed more than 200 customers, who chatted, tasted and learned all about everything from lavender and wine to chocolate and cheese, made right here in Oregon and SW Washington.

One of our vendors, Charlie from Trailhead Coffee Roasters, even brought in a bicycle used to deliver his artisan coffees to Portland-area businesses! Did you know that 100% of Trailhead’s coffees are Fair Trade Organic and sourced from the Café Femenino Coop? This means that all of Trailhead’s coffees are harvested by women who benefit from the income. Who knew?

To learn more about this and other local vendors who participated, visit their websites and be sure to look for their products at Market of Choice!
