Artisan Cheeses

Discover the simple pleasures of handcrafted cheeses. An ancient, time-honored practice, the art of cheese making is a labor of love. Patiently nurtured to optimal ripeness and peak flavor, most are made in limited quantities and are often seasonal. Your Market Cheese Shop carries some of the finest award-winning domestic and international artisan cheeses available.

Camembert is a cheese with a terrific reputation. Unfortunately, many Camemberts found in grocery stores are bland and overpriced, or overripe and bitter. We recently switched to "Le Pommier" Camembert, a high-quality cheese minus the big price tag. Gooey, buttery and aromatic, this delightful cheese has a tender crust that crumbles when spread. The secret to Le Pommier's excellence? Small production, high quality milk from family farmers and superior ripening. Visit your Market Cheese shop and taste the difference.

Bayley Hazen Blue
Bayley Hazen Blue is one example of the amazing things happening at Jasper Hill Farms in Vermont. A natural rinded blue cheese, Bayley Hazen Blue is Jasper Hill’s original, flagship cheese. It is made with whole raw milk every other day, primarily with morning milk, which is lower in fat. Ayrshire milk is particularly well suited to the production of blue cheese because of its small fat globules, which are easily broken down during the aging process. Drier than most, this wonderful blue cheese has undertones of nuts and grasses and sometimes licorice.
